I have lots of high end scope mounts and several of these UTG mounts...the UTG's are every bit as good at less then half the cost. Monstrum also has some really good mounts available for a reasonable cost; especially their 7075 Pro Series and Razorclaw series. With today's CNC machining tech, there is no need to spend $300-500 for a great scope mount.

Could you go into a bit more on how it compares to the Primary Arms SLx 1-6x24 SFP Gen IV? The PA 1-6 is the first ever LPVO scope that i ever used. It is on my general purpose AR. I just got a CVA scout V2 in 300 blk that will be a pest and occasional hunting gun. So i am looking for a good scope for that. I am blown away how nice the PA seems, but it is the only one i have ever used. So i have nothing to compare it to. I also havent been able to take it out as much as i would have liked. Seems like both scopes trade back and forth on paper but it seems like the PA doesn't match up to the paper. like for example it seems to have a higher FOV then listed. Taking off the rear flip cap seems to make a huge difference in how thin the optic appears looking thru it. Don't know if i have seen another review talk about that. I prefer crosshairs in my reticles, but neither has one unfortunately. I am coming around to the chevron and overall the ACSS reticle is amazing. The power ring is a bitch and takes a lot of effort to get it going. Hoping it starts to loosen up some more as i use it.

Why can't anyone figure out how to make mounts that work as quick as claw mounts that don't need fancy fitting? Just snap them on and unsnap them, doesn't seem that complicated to me & I've worked in factories as a fitter, guns are far more uniform than what I worked on, I have several designs that would work similar to claw mounts and always go to the same spot even as they wear & they're all the same other than the heights an models they fit , just pick the base for your model and rest is the same for all

Fantastic review! WOW...I am really impressed with this scope! I had been primarily looking at LPVO's because of the magnification range and not because I needed the specific features of an LPVO. I'm not going to be mounting it on an AR style rifle, rather my intent is to mount it on a bolt action rifle to use for target shooting at ranges of 50-200 yards. This scope's magnification range is perfect for my needs and the clarity of the glass and feature set are great with the RECCE MIL reticle being near perfect, for me, too. The LPVO that I had pretty much settled on is the Swampfox Arrowhead 1-10x with the MIL reticle, but in my case this Kentucky Long is probably more appropriate. Although I wish it was SFP, the way the reticle is designed makes it very visible and useable at lower magnifications.

I bought it about 6 months ago when it very came out. I’m sorry but it was absolutely terrible. The arm throw screw on it snapped in half while screwing it in. Just goes to show the quality and after that I sent it back. The optic quality was so damn warped it was awful. For sure can’t keep both eyes open using it.

Wow and here I had spent the last 2 days looking for comparisons of the venom vs strike eagle and tango msr. I paid $250 for this scope, and it is worth every penny. In my opinion, this is the new benchmark for affordable scopes. The Sig Tango is a CLOSE contender because it comes with a mount, but the performance of the Venom is a little bit better all around. Honestly, you should review a few affordable mounts to fill video gaps between scopes. I bet at least 1 Monstrum mount will surprise you (for the price, as always.)

    • @stevem4783

I love Monstrum mounts, I haven't had an issue with them. I think it's dumb to pay a couple hundred dollars for some aluminum and a few set screws, I definitely believe that's an area where a lot of companies are simply price gouging.
